Purchases

TidalPool is free to download with 3 days of full access. Starting that 3-day access window happens locally on your device and does not create a subscription or charge. After the 3 days, a single optional one-time purchase unlocks the whole app permanently — there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews or auto-charges. That purchase or restore action is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) through their own in-app purchase systems. TidalPool never sees or receives your name, payment card, or billing details. The developer receives only anonymous, aggregate sales figures from Apple and Google — never anything tied to you. Apple’s and Google’s handling of the transaction is governed by their own privacy policies.

Store Listing Alignment

Checked July 21, 2026. This page was compared with the public store listings where available. Where a store privacy or data-safety label was visible, it said the developer does not collect user data.

Accurate app behavior: Journal entries, photos, favorites, selected stations, settings, and optional location use stay local. Tide predictions are fetched directly from NOAA or Canadian Hydrographic Service providers; store systems handle purchase, restore, refund, receipt, or price display where applicable. No accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, or developer backend are used.

TidalPool collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. There is no backend server; the bundled tide-station and species data and anything you save stay on your device.

Data stored on your device

Your journal entries (sightings, notes, any photos you add, and—on iOS—an optional on-device coordinate captured when you save), favorites, and settings are stored on your device. TidalPool does not send them to the developer. When you share a journal entry, the saved coordinate is not included; journal photos are re-encoded without embedded GPS metadata before storage and sharing.

Location

If you allow it, TidalPool uses your current location on your device to find nearby tide stations. On iOS, the current coordinate may also be saved locally as part of a journal entry; Android journal entries save the selected tide station rather than a raw device coordinate. TidalPool does not upload your device location.

Internet

The bundled species guide and saved or cached content work offline. Fresh tide predictions require an internet request to NOAA CO-OPS (United States) or Fisheries and Oceans Canada / the Canadian Hydrographic Service (Canada), using a public station ID and date range—not your device coordinates or personal identifiers. Predictions are for general planning only, not navigation or safety-critical decisions.

Purchases

TidalPool starts with a 3-day full-access trial and then uses a one-time unlock for continued access where distributed through an app store. Starting the trial happens locally on your device. Apple App Store or Google Play handles purchase, restore, receipt verification, refunds, and localized price display. TidalPool receives only the entitlement status needed to unlock the app; we do not receive your payment card, billing address, Apple ID, Google account details, or store receipt contents.
