Tidal Pool keeps journal entries, photos, favorites and settings on your device. Photo analysis runs locally and can be wrong. No account, advertising, analytics or developer backend is used. Predictions and species suggestions are general information, not navigation or safety advice.
Optional location access finds nearby stations on your device. iOS may save a coordinate locally with a journal entry; Android saves the selected station. Refreshing tides sends a public station ID and dates to NOAA or Fisheries and Oceans Canada; these services receive normal connection information such as your IP address, not your device coordinates or journal photos.
Apple or Google handles purchases and restores and may load products or verify access. You start the 3-day trial locally; it creates no subscription or charge. After the trial, an optional one-time purchase unlocks the app permanently.
Device backups may retain or restore app data. Exports and sharing send copies to destinations you choose. Deleting the app removes local data, not backups or exported copies.
