Purchases

Plumes is free to download with 3 days of full access. Starting that 3-day access window happens locally on your device and does not create a subscription or charge. After the 3 days, a single optional one-time purchase unlocks the whole app permanently — there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews or auto-charges. That purchase or restore action is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) through their own in-app purchase systems. Plumes never sees or receives your name, payment card, or billing details. The developer receives only anonymous, aggregate sales figures from Apple and Google — never anything tied to you. Apple’s and Google’s handling of the transaction is governed by their own privacy policies.

Store Listing Alignment

Checked June 27, 2026. This page was compared with the public App Store listing. Where a store privacy or data-safety label was visible, it said the developer does not collect user data.

Accurate app behavior: Feather atlas reference data, journal notes, photos, and optional location tags stay local. Camera, photo, and location access happen only when you choose those features. Apple App Store or Google Play handles purchase, restore, refund, receipt, or price display where applicable. No accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, or developer backend are used.

Plumes collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. There is no backend server; the bundled feather atlas and anything you save stay on your device.

Data stored on your device

Any journal entries you create (the feathers you've identified, plus any note or photo you attach) are stored only on your device. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes them.

Camera & photos

If you choose to attach a photo to a journal entry, Plumes uses your camera or photo library only for that purpose. The image is stored with your entry on your device and is never uploaded.

Location

If you choose to tag a feather find with your current location, Plumes uses your device location only for that journal entry. The coordinates are stored locally with the entry and are never uploaded. You can skip location tagging or revoke location permission in system Settings.

Purchases

Plumes starts with a 3-day full-access trial and then uses a one-time unlock for continued access where distributed through an app store. Starting the trial happens locally on your device. Apple App Store or Google Play handles purchase, restore, receipt verification, refunds, and localized price display. Plumes receives only the entitlement status needed to unlock the app; we do not receive your payment card, billing address, Apple ID, Google account details, or store receipt contents.

Reference data

The bundled feather images and identification data come from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Feather Atlas and are in the public domain. They ship inside the app for offline use. Plumes is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Children

Plumes does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
