Data the app stores on your device only
The app saves the following entirely on your device, never sent anywhere:
- Your detective rating and streak.
- Which cases you've attempted (so you can't redo a case for full rank credit).
- Your in-progress notes for the current case.
- Your settings (theme, locale override, hint preferences).
Purchases
Inquest is free to download with 3 days of full access. Starting that 3-day access window happens locally on your device and does not create a subscription or charge. After the 3 days, a single optional one-time purchase unlocks the whole app permanently — there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews or auto-charges. That purchase or restore action is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) through their own in-app purchase systems. Inquest never sees or receives your name, payment card, or billing details. Apple’s and Google’s handling of the transaction is governed by their own privacy policies.
Game Center (optional)
If you sign in to Game Center, Apple handles the connection — Inquest only writes your solve-time, rating, and streak to your Game Center profile so leaderboards can render. We don't see your Game Center ID or any other Apple account data. Game Center is optional; the app works without it.
Third parties
Android includes Google Play Billing for the one-time unlock and Google Play In-App Review for the rating prompt. Google Play handles both services. Inquest does not send gameplay data through either service.
