Bearing — Privacy Policy

Bearing is a field almanac from Rizk Corsight, LLC. The app has no developer-operated account or data-collection backend, advertising, analytics, or tracking. Ordinary almanac records are not uploaded to the developer. Store transactions, requests to public data providers, support messages you choose to send, and browser visits have the separate handling described below.

Data stored on your device

Bearing stores regions, preferences, trial state, and cached access status on your device. On Apple platforms, trial dates are stored in Keychain and mirrored in local preferences. Keychain records can remain after deleting and reinstalling the app. Operating-system backup and restoration may retain eligible local records according to your settings. Bearing does not enable Keychain synchronization for these trial records. On Android, trial state is stored in app preferences with an app-scoped Android Keystore mirror; the release disables automatic app backup. Clearing or deleting app data can remove Android records. Deleting the app does not delete purchase records maintained by Apple or Google.

Location

On iPhone and iPad, location access is optional and When-In-Use only. You may enter a ZIP code instead. Before storage or regional requests, Bearing reduces a device coordinate to a coarse grid of approximately 0.01 degrees. That coarse coordinate may be sent to Apple geocoding for place lookup and to the National Weather Service for a regional forecast. A ZIP code may be sent to Apple geocoding and EPA services. This data is used for app functionality, is not linked by Bearing to an identity, and is not used for tracking. On Android, regions are selected manually and the app requests no location permission.

Internet

The Android almanac content is bundled and works offline; Google Play services handle product, price, purchase, restore, and entitlement operations. Apple-platform builds are offline-first but may request weather from the National Weather Service, tide predictions from NOAA Tides & Currents, UV data from EPA services, active-storm data from NOAA National Hurricane Center, and place names from Apple geocoding. Tide requests contain a NOAA station ID and dates; the national storm request does not contain a location. These requests do not pass through a developer server, and Bearing sends no account, advertising, or analytics identifier with them.

Purchases

You choose when to start a three-day full-access trial. Starting it locally creates no charge or subscription. Afterward, an optional one-time purchase unlocks the app; it does not auto-renew. Apple App Store or Google Play handles payment and store purchase history. The app processes product information, transaction or purchase-token information, and entitlement status to display offers, acknowledge purchases where required, and grant or restore access. Bearing does not collect your payment-card details. The developer may receive store-provided transaction, order, refund, financial, or sales records through merchant tools. Those records are not necessarily anonymous or aggregate. They are separate from your almanac activity and are governed by the relevant store services.

Reference data

Bearing uses public and licensed references from NOAA Tides & Currents, the National Weather Service, NOAA National Hurricane Center, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, USDA, EPA, CDC, the USA National Phenology Network (CC BY 4.0), the IAU Meteor Data Center, and the International Meteor Organization working list. Bearing is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any named organization.

Children

Bearing is a general-audience reference app and is not directed to children. It has no account, advertising, analytics, social features, or user-generated-content service.

Trademarks

Bearing is a trademark of Rizk Corsight, LLC. Apple and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.; Google Play and Android are trademarks of Google LLC. All other product, agency, and organization names are used for identification only and remain the property of their respective owners.

Sharing and support

When you choose to share a card, your device passes the selected content to the app or recipient you choose. That service handles the shared content under its own policy. If you email support, the developer receives the address, message, and attachments you choose to send and uses them to respond. Do not include payment-card details. Opening a privacy or support link uses your browser; the website host can receive ordinary connection information.

Contact

For privacy questions or requests concerning support correspondence or developer-held store records, contact rizkcorsight@rizkcorsight.com. Apple and Google manage records held in their own services. Their retention and deletion rules apply to those records.
