Purchases

TidalPool is free to download with 3 days of full access. Starting that 3-day access window happens locally on your device and does not create a subscription or charge. After the 3 days, a single optional one-time purchase unlocks the whole app permanently — there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews or auto-charges. That purchase or restore action is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) through their own in-app purchase systems. TidalPool never sees or receives your name, payment card, or billing details. The developer receives only anonymous, aggregate sales figures from Apple and Google — never anything tied to you. Apple’s and Google’s handling of the transaction is governed by their own privacy policies.

Store Listing Alignment

Checked June 29, 2026. This page was compared with the public store listings where available. Where a store privacy or data-safety label was visible, it said the developer does not collect user data.

Accurate app behavior: Journal entries, photos, favorites, selected stations, settings, and optional location use stay local. Tide predictions are fetched directly from NOAA or Canadian Hydrographic Service providers; store systems handle purchase, restore, refund, receipt, or price display where applicable. No accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, or developer backend are used.

Plain English: Tidal Pool collects nothing. There is no account, no login, no analytics, no advertising SDK, no tracking. Your photos, journal entries, station preferences, and approximate location stay on your device.

What we collect

Nothing about you. Tidal Pool does not have a server, an account system, or an analytics tool. We do not see your usage, your taps, your photos, your notes, or your location.

Purchases

TidalPool starts with a 3-day full-access trial and then uses a one-time unlock for continued access where distributed through an app store. Starting the trial happens locally on your device. Apple App Store or Google Play handles purchase, restore, receipt verification, refunds, and localized price display. TidalPool receives only the entitlement status needed to unlock the app; we do not receive your payment card, billing address, Apple ID, Google account details, or store receipt contents.

What we strip from your photos

When you share a journal entry that includes a photo, Tidal Pool strips GPS metadata (EXIF GPS dictionary) before sharing. The on-device journal copy retains the GPS so you can find the spot again — but anything that leaves the app is GPS-free.

Children

Tidal Pool is rated 4+ and is suitable for families. Because Tidal Pool collects no personal information and uses no third-party services, COPPA and the equivalent UK/EU/AU/CA child-privacy regulations apply trivially: there is no data to protect.

Your rights

Because nothing leaves your device, GDPR and CCPA "data subject access" requests have no work to do. To delete everything, delete the app — iOS removes your local Documents folder with it.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change what data Tidal Pool collects, this page will be updated and the change will be highlighted in App Store release notes.
