Accurate app behavior: Recovery logs, photos, datasheet cache, and optional location sorting stay local. Maps and optional NOAA NGS datasheet downloads are handled by their providers; purchase or restore is handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. No accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, or developer backend are used.
Markline collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. There is no backend server; the bundled survey-mark database and your recovery logs stay on your device.
The recoveries you log (found / not-found / destroyed, plus any condition, note, or photo you add) are stored only on your device. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes them.
If you allow it, Markline uses your location to show the survey marks near you — to center the map and to sort the Nearby list by distance. Your location is used only on your device for this; it is never stored or uploaded.
The app and its survey-mark database work fully offline. When you are online, map tiles are provided by Apple Maps (on iPhone, iPad, and Mac) or Google Maps (on Android) and are subject to those providers' terms. You may also optionally download an individual mark's full datasheet from the public NOAA NGS website; it is then cached on your device for offline reuse.
Markline starts with a 3-day full-access trial and then uses a one-time unlock for continued access. Starting the trial happens locally on your device. Apple App Store or Google Play handles purchase, restore, receipt verification, refunds, and localized price display. Markline receives only the entitlement status needed to unlock the app; we do not receive your payment card, billing address, Apple ID, Google account details, or store receipt contents.
The bundled survey-mark database is from the NOAA National Geodetic Survey and is in the public domain. It ships inside the app for offline use. Markline is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA or the National Geodetic Survey.
